CARLTON midfielder Maddy Guerin will miss the remainder of AFLW season seven after rupturing her ACL during Sunday’s game.
The 22-year-old left the field during the second quarter against Port Adelaide and did not return.
Scans confirmed the injury today with Guerin to undergo surgery and commence rehabilitation in due course.
Guerin joined Carlton from Melbourne ahead of the 2021 season and has played 15 senior games for the Blues.
She has worked hard in that time to break into the senior side and stamped her mark on the competition during the final round of season six against the Demons with 19 disposals, 13 kicks and 12 tackles.
General Manager of Women’s Football Brett Munro says Guerin will receive the full support of the Club during the upcoming months.
“Maddy has worked exceptionally hard to develop her game and earn her spot in our midfield group,” Munro said.
“She was just starting to hit her stride so it’s incredibly disappointing to see Maddy sidelined for the rest of the year, but she has our entire football club supporting her and we’ll work with her through her rehab.
“We have no doubt that she will bounce back from this and set her sights on 2023.”
