As pre-season fast approaches, Carlton captain Marc Murphy says he’s “really excited” to start learning and developing his game under senior coach Brendon Bolton.
‘Murph’ has already had a “few chats” to the coach and it’s inspired him to work harder, and really lead by example for his teammates heading into 2016.
“He’s been really impressive so far and like myself, the rest of the boys are really excited about the opportunity to impress someone new – we’re looking forward to his new ideas about coaching,” Murphy told Radio Sport National on Friday.
“I’ve been around for 10 years now which is quite a while and I think at 28, to have someone come in with a completely new style and fresh approach, I think is exciting for the whole footy club.”
The midfielder believes Brendon Bolton and assistant coach John Barker will make a solid team, along with the new coaching panel, really creating a positive environment for the players to learn and grow.
“Obviously Bolts and Barks have had quite a few conversations and they’re excited by the challenge of working together, along with our other new coaches as well.”
Murphy is still currently recovering from a shoulder reconstruction, which he had at the end of the season, but reassured supporters the injury is “on track and coming along nicely”.
“It’s coming along alright, I just got back from overseas on Sunday night and I’m just getting stuck back into all the shoulder rehab – which is always a lot of fun,” he laughed.
One-to-four-year players return to the Club on November 9, while players who have five or more years’ experience return a little later on November 23.
