MICHAEL Voss isn’t letting any win-loss records determine how his side will play.

Despite being without a win at Adelaide Oval (the ground they will head to tomorrow night), that record isn’t something the Blues will be focusing on in the first of four tests to close out the home-and-away season.

“We’ve been really invested in the conversation around the identity we’re after, “ Voss said.

“Part of that identity is about being the same no matter where you play.

“It’s a mentality we’ve taken in Melbourne with us in the games we’ve played here, but also the games we play on the road. That’s the bigger agenda for us, instead of the venue we’re playing at.”

With the addition of Marc Pittonet to the line-up alongside the comeback of Mitch McGovern last week, Carlton will have a taller and more experienced team than they had in the middle portion of the season.

Voss said the change will come at a good time for the team, allowing them to jell and gain some consistency heading to the back-end of the season.

“[Pittonet’s return] is timely, because it gives us a chance to build that connection over the next little while,” he said.

“He’s been out for a very long time, so I’m sure there’s going to be a combination we’re going to keep working with in terms of his connection with his ground-level players.”

The Blues have dealt with key personnel missing over the 2022 season, but Voss has been firm on the squad mentality and the ‘next man up’ mindset.

Now that a few players have started to come return to the fold, Voss said that now is the time to see what works best for this Carlton team still identifying what fits best.

“Nothing has really been taken off the table,” he said.

“One of the advantages - if you want to call it that - is we’ve been able to explore what we look like structurally. We’ve had to go to work really hard with some key personnel missing.

“We’ve learnt a lot about ourselves so we feel like we’ve got a couple of things where if we need to go with it, we’ll go with it.”

As for the Crows themselves, Voss said it was crucial the Blues didn’t look too far ahead as the fixture approaches its final month.

“We’ve got some big challenges coming, but we don’t take our eyes off what’s straight in front of us,” he said.

“[The Crows] are providing a lot of pressure on the opposition and we expect it to be a tight, hard-fought battle. The mistake would be taking our eyes off what’s straight in front of us.”
