CARLTON has named its extended squad of 26 ahead of Sunday’s final 2022 game at Marvel Stadium.
Mitch McGovern could return for his first AFL game since Round 2, having been named as one of six potential inclusions to the squad.
McGovern returned at VFL last weekend, emerging unscathed in a game where he played the majority of the game in defence before swinging forward to have a crucial hand in the two match-winning goals.
McGovern is joined by Paddy Dow, Lachie Fogarty, Lochie O’Brien and Will Setterfield into the extended line-up, with the group rewarded for strong VFL form in recent weeks.
There are at least two spots to be replaced in the Carlton side which took on Geelong last weekend, with George Hewett to miss alongside the suspended Will Hayes.
“You can only go so far as a player by being an individual. It’s how you work with others and play team footy: that’s ultimately when you get the best out of yourself."

Sam Walsh's commitment to team-first football is a microcosm of a wider playing group philosophy. 🤝
Hewett reported back soreness on Thursday, so was withdrawn from the side for Sunday’s clash with the Giants.
Carlton’s team of 22 will be announced tomorrow at 5pm, with the extended interchange to be cut down from eight players to four.
