Recently retired Blue, Andrew Walker, will return to Ikon Park as a development and integration coach in 2017.

The 202-gamer, who hung up his boots at the end of this season, has a passion for coaching and a strong desire to help develop Carlton’s young talent.

Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay said the club was thrilled Walker has taken up the development coaching opportunity.

“We’re delighted Andrew will continue his career at Carlton as a development and integration coach – his experience and knowledge of the game will be invaluable for our young players,” McKay said.

“Andrew’s core responsibilities will involve assisting the first-year players' transition into the AFL system, which is a really important process, as well as working alongside fellow development coaches, Mathew Capuano and Josh Fraser.

“‘He was a key part of the leadership group this season so Andrew’s ability drive and set high standards at the Club will be really beneficial.”

After being picked up by Carlton with its No. 2 pick in the 2002 national draft, Walker played 202 games for the Blues and kicked 139 goals between 2003 and 2016. 

Walker will commence his new role at Ikon Park next week.
