Carlton will use five live selections in Thursday evening’s NAB AFL Draft.
The Blues will go into the draft, to be held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, with picks 18, 34, 42, 67 & 70.
“We are looking forward to adding five additional players to our list,” Carlton’s National Recruiting Manager, Wayne Hughes told carltonfc.com.au
Despite the Gold Coast’s draft concessions, Hughes is optimistic given the depth of the talent pool.
“With the introduction of the new franchise we are selecting from what is a compromised draft,” he said.
“But I have no doubt the talent is out there, we are in the same position as the other clubs and I am confident that we will be able to secure a number of players capable of taking us to the next level.”
Carlton will also commit selections, 85, 99 & 108 to rookies David Ellard, Jeff Garlett and Simon White, all to be elevated onto the senior list.
“We have already made the decision to lift David, Jeff and Simon onto our senior list and that will be formalized on Thursday night,” Hughes said.
“It’s a credit to the three guys, they have worked extremely hard since being selected as rookies and they all deserve their place.”
