CARLTON will head into tomorrow night’s grudge match against arch rival Essendon with five inclusions to the side.
It was confirmed earlier in the week that Caleb Marchbank would return for his first match of the season, while Harry McKay’s inclusion was locked in by AFL Senior Coach Michael Voss in his Thursday press conference.
Matthew Kennedy will also come back into the fold after missing the Collingwood clash pre-bye, as does Jack Martin for his first AFL game since Round 8.
Jordan Boyd rounds out the additions after another strong performance for the Carlton Reserves in their last hitout.
Jacob Weitering is a forced exclusion due to shoulder surgery, while Jack Carroll, Matthew Cottrell, Paddy Dow, Jesse Motlop and Liam Stocker have been omitted.
The inclusion of McKay will likely see Jack Silvagni take on his previous role as second ruck, allowing more freedom for Carlton’s midfield unit while also giving the Blues crucial representation further afield.
Down back, the sight of Sam Docherty and Caleb Marchbank in the same side will be a welcome one for Carlton supporters. Ironically, the last time the two were teammates also came against arch rival Essendon, albeit in Round 20 of the 2017 season.
Friday night’s clash will kick off from 7:50pm AEST.
