FOR THE second week in a row and the third time this season, Tom De Koning has been nominated for Mark of the Year.
It’s no surprise De Koning was nominated again, with the young ruckman's best of a good bunch in the final term receiving the nod alongside Collingwood's Jeremy Howe and Richmond's Toby Nankervis.
The mark in question came early in the fourth term, when the Blues were desperate to gain some territory in their forward half.
De Koning was that man.
Sandwiched in between Dane Rampe and direct opponent Tom Hickey, De Koning planted his left knee into the latter and brought down a true 'speccy', showing off his aerial prowess and marking abilities.
De Koning himself admitted the mark gave him some confidence to fly for some other big marks in the remainder of the quarter, with his four contested marks in the final term going a long way to ensuring the Blues left Marvel Stadium with four points in their pocket.
It adds to De Koning's nominations in Rounds 1 and 9 against Richmond and Greater Western Sydney respectively, while he now averages a Mark of the Year nomination every eight games so far in his AFL career.
