Saturday’s game is more than a blockbuster between two great rivals, one of the greatest rivalries in Australian sport. The game between Carlton and Collingwood is being played for the Richard Pratt Cup.
The Richard Pratt Cup raises awareness of the incidences of prostate cancer in Australia. The match is played in memory of former Carlton President, Richard Pratt, who passed away in 2009 following a long battle with prostate cancer.
Bryce Gibbs is an ambassador for the Richard Pratt Cup and while he knows the importance of the battle on the field this Saturday against the Pies, he is well aware of the battle off the field to raise awareness of the incidences of prostate cancer.
“The Carlton Football Club is proud to be involved in the Richard Pratt Cup and while we want to win the game against Collingwood we also hope the match helps to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
“We encourage men, everywhere, to consult their GP and ensure they are regularly screened for prostate cancer. This will be a win for the community,” Gibbs said.
As part of the Richard Pratt Cup activities this week, The Victorian Minister for Health The Hon. David Davis, MLC, will visit Visy Park where he will be joined by Bryce Gibbs to launch the Richard Pratt Prostate Cancer Fellowships.
