THE player adjudged best on ground in Carlton’s clash with Hawthorn will once again be awarded the David Parkin Medal.
Named in honour of the individual who left an indelible footprint at both the Blues and Hawks, the awarding of the David Parkin Medal continues a long-standing tradition between the two clubs.
This will be the 19th time the medal has been awarded, with Ed Curnow last year’s recipient of the award.
The Club can confirm that Adam Saad will miss the Round 3 match against Hawthorn after entering AFL Health and Safety protocols today.

Defender Jordan Boyd will replace Saad in the side and make his AFL debut, after being selected in the 2021 NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
While Curnow won’t feature in the Round 3 clash, former winner Sam Docherty (2017) will feature for the Blues at the home of football.
Parkin’s standing in the game is well-noted as a Life Member of both the Carlton and Hawthorn Football Clubs.
A premiership captain of the Hawks in 1971 and premiership coach in 1978, Parkin led the Blues to premiership success in 1981 and 1982, before returning to Royal Parade and leading the Club to its 16th triumph in 1995.
He has also been a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame since 2002.
Traditionally, the David Parkin Medal winner is determined by the Presidents of both clubs and is awarded in the rooms post-match.
