Carlton did not make any trades during the AFL Exchange Period that closed earlier this afternoon.

Carlton senior coach Brett Ratten said following the Exchange Period that the club was happy with the playing list and did not want to entertain trades for the sake of being involved in the swapping of players and draft selections.

“We expected this to be a quiet trade period because we are confident in our list and would only have entertained a suitable trade if it was going to benefit Carlton. As it turned out we didn’t believe there was such an opportunity and as such we did not do any trades,” Ratten said.

Prior to the Exchange Period, Carlton CEO said the club was not expecting to be active in the trade period believing the club was in a very positive position following the 2011 season.

“We are very confident in the natural improvement that will come from within our playing group,” is what Swann said on the eve of the Exchange Period.

Having not made any trades Carlton will have to make one change to the playing list by Monday October 31 as per the AFL rules that stipulate every club must have a minimum of four selections in the National Draft.

“We need to make one more change to our list by October 31 and will discuss this further and make a decision in the next two weeks,” Ratten added after the close of the Exchange Period.

Three players currently on the list; Jarrad Waite, Paul Bower and Setanta O’hAilpin all remain uncontracted for 2012 but Ratten said Waite is expected to finalise his agreement in the next few days and further discussions will be held with Bower and O’hAilpin.
