Help raise funds for kids with cancer
Hyundai Australia will be donating $1000 to the Steven Walter Children's Cancer foundation for each goal that is kicked by the Blues this weekend.
The announcement took place at today’s annual Carlton Football Club Sponsor breakfast attended by Brownlow medallist and Carlton FC Captain Chris Judd and fellow Blues team mate Marc Murphy.
On the other side of town Carlton players including Ed Curnow, Simon White and Dennis Armfield attended the Royal Children’s Hospital to pay a special visit to some of the young cancer patients, and avid AFL fans, currently receiving treatment.
“The kids in this hospital are incredible, they show courage, strength, and resilience, it is a real inspiration and a reminder of how fortunate we are, and the role we can play in working with the community” said Curnow.
“Visiting the hospital puts life into perspective and we are certainly proud to be supporting this worthy cause.”
This weekend the Carlton Football Club and Hyundai Motor Company Australia are giving AFL fans the chance to join them in their support of the Children’s Cancer Centre Foundation. You can be a part of the excitement as two of the leagues largest supporter groups come together at a match sure to be fuelled by pride and passion when Carlton take on local rivals Essendon at the MCG on Saturday 21st April.
In a major fundraiser for the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation (SWCCF) supporters can make a difference by attending the match and donating to the volunteer ‘tin rattlers’ located on the concourse before the game. In addition, Hyundai Motor Company Australia, Carlton FC’s joint major sponsor, will donate $1000 per goal scored by the Blues during the game, that’s an incentive sure to get the fans fired up.
The Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation has an unwavering mission to make a difference for children with cancer by raising philanthropic funds for childhood cancer research which can impact on the current clinical standards of care for children with cancer, reduce side effects, and improve survival rates. Dedicated to the goal of 100% survival, the foundation has been supporting vital research through fundraising for over twelve years.
“Without the support of the Carlton Football Club, the players, and of course our corporate sponsors Hyundai, this day could not happen,” said Susan Walter. “We are delighted Hyundai and Carlton are again fully backing our fundraising activities and look forward to the support of the enthusiastic crowd expected to attend the MCG for the match.”
