Kreuzer returns in VFL
Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer is set to play his first game in nearly a year when he plays for the Northern Bullants this Saturday
Kreuzer was forced to undergo a knee reconstruction after going down badly against Fremantle in round 13 last year.
It has been 11 months since the 2007 NAB AFL Draft No.1 pick last played but with his rehabilitation going to plan, Kreuzer is set to play a half-game for the Northern Bullants in their clash with Werribee on Saturday afternoon.
It is expected that Carlton will show patience with Kreuzer, allowing him to find match fitness in the VFL for at least two weeks according to Carlton football manager Steven Icke.
"We don't want to rush him or put pressure on him," Icke told the Herald Sun.
"We are mindful he has missed 11 months of footy and he will play 50 or 60 per cent of game time.
"We think he will play VFL for a few weeks but with a bloke called Matthew Kreuzer, he is a very competitive beast."
Carlton take on the undefeated Geelong this Friday night before matches against Melbourne, Port Adelaide and the Brisbane Lions.
