THE TEAM is in for Carlton’s clash with Geelong.
The Game Changers have made one alteration to last week’s team, with Maddy Guerin coming into the side to replace Grace Egan (ribs).
Guerin played six games in her first season at Carlton last year, backing it up with an impressive run of form in the VFLW competition which saw her place second in the team’s best and fairest.
The excitement factor for the Round 2 clash will be the prospect of Maddy and Georgie Prespakis lining up on opposing sides for the first time.
With Georgie Prespakis playing her first game of AFLW last week, her older sister said she “won’t be taking it easy” against the 18-year-old fresh off a NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination.
Carlton’s Prespakis had a very impressive game against Collingwood last week herself, totalling 16 disposals, seven inside 50s and a coaches’ vote.
Alongside Abbie McKay, Prespakis will be hoping to replicate that form in the midfield with the strong ruck work of Breann Moody and Jess Good.
Good is one of last week’s five debutants that all retain their place for Round 2, including the impressive Courtney Jones (one goal) and draftee Annie Lee, who returns to familiar territory as a former Geelong Falcon.
Initially scheduled to travel to take on the Brisbane Lions in Round 2, it was announced yesterday that the Blues would instead take on the Cats this Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium due to multiple Lions players entering AFL Health and Safety protocols.
