CARLTON big man Marc Pittonet has inked a new two-year deal, tying the ruckman to the Club until at least the end of the 2023 season.

Taken by Hawthorn at pick No.50 in the 2014 National Draft, Pittonet found his way to IKON Park via the 2019 trade period, seeking greater opportunity at senior level.

After seven AFL appearances across his five years with the Hawks, the 25-year-old made his Navy Blue debut in Round 2, 2020 and has gone on to play 26 games for the Blues to date, enjoying a consistent opening to 2021 with 13 straight appearances before his campaign was cut short with an ankle injury.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said Pittonet’s new deal was a well-deserved reward for his consistent contribution to the side in his second season at the Club.

“Marc came across to IKON Park at the end of 2019 eager to cement his place in the side at senior level, and it is a credit to him that he has been able to do that over the past two seasons,” Austin said.

“Under the guidance of Matthew Kreuzer, who has been a tremendous mentor and coach for our developing rucks, Marc has relished the opportunities he has been given and has come a long way over his time at the Club.

“While it was disappointing to see an ankle injury cut his season short this year, he will no doubt attack this upcoming pre-season and place him in the best possible position for a big 2022.”
