Carlton Football Club has finalised its inaugural women’s squad, signing three free agents to its AFL Women’s team.
Midfielders Alison Brown and Jessica Kennedy, along with forward Hayley Trevean, will don the navy blue jumper in 2017 after the Club secured their talents via free agency.
The trio joins the Blues’ current list of 24, after signing with the Club under the Free Agency rules that provide an opportunity for those athletes who were not picked up in the AFL Women’s draft.
Senior women’s coach Damien Keeping said he is delighted the final team has now been assembled, as his side prepares for next year’s competition.

“It’s been a long and thorough process to build the list, so I’m really pleased and excited all our players are locked in as we look to begin pre-season training,” Keeping said.
“Alison, Jessica and Hayley are terrific players with great character who will all bring something special to our team.
“Alison’s athleticism means she can work over her opponents from the start of a game until the end, Jessica’s ability to win her own ball will greatly benefit the side, while Haley’s game sense is second to none.”
Kennedy and Trevean have both been recruited from Bendigo Thunder, with Kennedy named the Club’s best and fairest this year.
Meanwhile Brown, who plays for the St Kilda Sharks, has been touted as one of the promising young guns of the game.
