Junior clubs: South Coogee JFC (WA)
AFL clubs: Carlton
AFL debut: Round 9, 2022
Recruited from: South Fremantle
Brownlow votes: -
Jesse Motlop certainly turned heads in his first year in the Navy Blue, managing 12 games in his maiden AFL season.
Motop backed up 2022 with another impressive campaign, playing all three finals for the Blues and 19 games throughout the regular season.
Totalling 24 goals for the season, Motlop’s immense pressure and craftiness around the forward stoppages were a hallmark of his game, meshing well with small forwards such as Matt Owies and Corey Durdin, and complementing the talls in Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay.
Averaging 3.8 score involvements a game, Motlop has a natural eye for the goals and isn’t shy in setting up his teammates to hit the scoreboard. With football running in his blood, Motlop looks up to his father, who played a combined 130 AFL games across North Melbourne and Port Adelaide.
