Tasmanian and boyhood Bluebagger Lachie Cowan made his way to Carlton with pick No.30 in the 2022 NAB AFL Draft, with the dynamic defender part of a live trade during the draft.
Making his debut in Round 1 against Richmond, Cowan played the next five games across half back, getting his first taste at the highest level once more in Round 19, taking his AFL game total to seven.
Then honing his craft in the VFL, Cowan was an important part of the Carlton Reserves backline in his first season on an AFL list, playing nine games where he averaged 20 disposals a game.
A speedy half-back, Cowan’s strengths lie in his pinpoint kicking and his physicality in the contest, always the first to put his head over the ball in the backline.
