A CARLTON duo will undergo fitness tests ahead of this weekend’s clash with Gold Coast.
After being subbed out of the win over St Kilda at half time, the news is positive for Tom De Koning, whose availability will be assessed later in the week.
De Koning was taken from the ground after receiving a hit below his pec, with Director of High Performance Andrew Russell revealing the ruckman had no structural damage.
“Tommy doesn’t have a pec injury: he has no muscle injury, which is great,” Russell said.
Injury Update | Round 21
Director of High Performance, Andrew Russell, provides an update on Carlton's AFL injury list prior to Round 21.
“He did have some chest soreness, which we pulled him out of the game with.
“He has settled down quite well and we’ll assess him later in the week to see whether he’s available.”
De Koning will be joined by Eddie Betts, who’ll be looking to prove his availability at training after missing the win with an ankle injury.
Betts - who has kicked the second most goals of any Blue this season - will look to complete a full week of training ahead of Saturday’s fixtured clash.
“Eddie Betts’ ankle has settled down quite well,” he said.
“He did a running session today, he’ll run again tomorrow and we’ll assess him later in the week.
“At this stage, it’s probably 50/50 whether he plays or not.”
