The Carlton Reserves have been able to bolster their stocks for the second half of the season. 
 
Luke Goetz and David Handley will join the Blues for the VFL competition, with Harry Reynolds departing the Club and Owen King (knee) being moved to the long-term injury list.
 
Goetz will join Carlton from the Essendon Reserves and Bell Park, formerly playing for the Western Bulldogs in the AFL. 
 
Being selected at pick No.29 in the 2015 rookie draft, the Western Jets product is a 203cm ruckman, with the ability to impact in front goal and will be solid support for Alex Mirkov and Toby Wooller in the VFL side. 

 
Handley is a small forward/midfielder that stands at 184cm, who was named in the best in six out of the last seven Geelong West Giants games. 
 
Handley featured in the Under 18s AFL Championships for Vic Country in 2017 and will be a valuable asset for the Carlton Reserves, with his ability to play through the middle and hit the scoreboard. 
 
Carlton Reserves Coach Daniel O’Keefe is pleased with the new additions to his side, noting that the recruits are coming at the right time for his side. 
 
“We’re really keen to get Luke and David in our side, they’re both really exciting young players,” O’Keefe said. 
 
“Luke has already had a run in the side for us and he was really solid, he won the hit-outs and he’ll be a strong ruckman for us in the centre. 
 
“David is clean through the middle, lays really tough tackles and can hit the scoreboard, which is something we can use right now so having that depth throughout the list will be crucial as we head into an important back half of the season.”
