The Carlton Football Club is proud to announce that its Round 21 clash with the Gold Coast Suns will be their sixth annual AFL Carlton Respects Match.
The Carlton Respects initiative, established in 2016, is the flagship community program of the Carlton Football Club and aims to create a society of equality and respect in schools, workplaces, and the general community.
The Blues will ‘Pull up their Socks’ again in support of gender equality for the prevention of violence against women to raise much needed awareness.
On average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner while one in three Australian women have experienced physical violence since the age of 15.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there were an increase in the number of domestic violence incidents occurring across Australia. Since the beginning of the pandemic, two-thirds of women who experienced physical or sexual violence by a current or former cohabitating partner said the violence had started or escalated during this time.
