YOU couldn’t wipe the grin off captain Ally Bild’s face following the VFLW Blues comeback win over Casey on Saturday.
Speaking to Carlton Media after the Blues’ 26-point victory at Casey Fields, Bild was “stoked” with her sides’ efforts.
“It’s really exciting to see our work come to fruition and it’s a credit to the girls and what they put out there today,” Bild said.
Despite a scoreless first term that saw trailing by 23 points at quarter time, the Blues held their nerve heading into the break knowing they had to switch ends in gusty conditions.
“Obviously they had a really strong wind in the first, so it was really hard to adjust,” she said.
“We didn’t know whether it was the way they were playing or the factor of the wind, so we just stuck to what we wanted to do, we didn’t change anything and we just kind of ground it out till the last quarter.”
With nine AFLW-listed players featuring on the bolstered Blues list, Bild was grateful to have the likes of Daisy Walker and Charlotte Wilson supporting her in the backline.

“It’s a credit to the AFLW girls, their standard is elite and they’ve brought that into our program and given us kind of an understanding of what it takes to play at the highest level,” she said.
“It’s great exposure.”
This weekend’s test against Geelong is a must-win at IKON Park, with the race for top six ladder positions still alive and well with three rounds to go.
“Irrespective of finals, we’ll just focus on what we can continue to build in the last three games of the season and then come into a really strong preseason."
