A LONG time coming.
Nic Newman will make his long-awaited return to action on Sunday.
The defender is one of three inclusions for the Round 9 clash with Melbourne, joined by Marc Murphy and Will Setterfield.
It will be Newman’s first game in just under a year, having played two full VFL games in his recovery from a ruptured patella tendon in June last year.
Murphy also returns to the line-up after missing the last fortnight with neck soreness, while midfielder Setterfield has been named for his first AFL game since the Round 4 victory over Gold Coast.
Jack Silvagni is a forced change due to concussion, while Michael Gibbons, Jack Newnes and last week’s medical sub Sam Petrevski-Seton has been omitted.
One of Gibbons, Newnes, Tom De Koning and Josh Honey will be the medical sub after being named as emergencies.
Levi Casboult will reach another career landmark when he plays his 150th AFL game in the Navy Blue.
Tomorrow’s game at the MCG kicks off from 3:20pm.
