OVERVIEW:
Carlton midfielder Grace Egan followed up a breakout first year in Navy Blue with nine rounds of consistency in her second year.
Arriving at Carlton ahead of the 2020 season through through the AFLW Academy bidding process, Egan quickly solidified her place in the starting line-up following a Round 1 debut.
2021 was no different for the high-pressure midfielder: Egan went from strength-to-strength with her unique brand of ferocious tackling and football smarts the hallmark of her campaign.
Impactful against Collingwood in the 2021 season opener, Egan’s performances only intensified as the season went on.
An integral member of the centreline, it’s no surprise that in three of the Blues’ five wins of the season Egan notched over 20 disposals.

No surprises in the Round 6 edition of the @aflwomens Team of the Week. ??
BEST PERFORMANCE:
Yet to record their first win of 2021, the Blues were determined when they arrived at Moorabbin ahead of their Round 3 clash with the Saints.
Sparking her side through the centre, Egan was relentless in her role: she gathered a season-high 24 disposals in Carlton’s 24-point win over St Kilda.
Not only did the youngster keep her hands firmly on the Sherrin through the afternoon, but her pressure around the contest was impactful in keeping the Saints' midfielders at bay.
Her performance was rewarded with recognition of a best-on-ground performance by the umpires on the night of the W Awards.
SEASON HIGHLIGHT:
Egan at her skilful and powerful finest is best exemplified in the first quarter of Carlton’s Round 6 victory over Geelong.
The youngster finished the day with 24 disposals, second only to the reigning AFLW Best and Fairest Madison Prespakis who finished with 28: the pair made a dangerous duo at Ikon Park.
Egan’s opening term saw a perfect balance of silky skills and grunt work, clearing the ball quickly and creating scoring opportunities for her fellow Blues.
