“IT’S gone pretty fast.”

That was Zac Fisher’s response to his impending 50-game milestone. And he’s not wrong.

When he runs out for his game No.50 on the weekend, it will be just 850 days since his first match in Navy Blue — against the Gold Coast Suns in Round 4, 2017.

Arriving at the Club standing at 175cm and 61 kg, Fisher’s rapid trajectory and ability to stand up to the rigours of AFL football have been a standout.

“To play 50 games for the Navy Blues is something I never thought would happen. I’m very grateful,” Fisher said.

“I didn’t think I would play as soon as I did.”

The 21-year-old has missed only seven games since making his debut, with the last two seasons seeing him average over 19 disposals a game.

Beginning to make a name for himself with his trademark evasion, Fisher has shown he can mix it with the competition’s best midfielders while also being a capable goalsneak.

“I think the biggest change [for me] is through my role… I guess it’s believing that I’m able to impact at this level,” he said.

“[I’m] able to go out and play forward with confidence, and then go out and play midfield with confidence.”

Of those drafted in the last four seasons, Fisher joins Jacob Weitering, Charlie Curnow, Jack Silvagni and Sam Petrevski-Seton in having played 50 games for the Club.

When you add Harry McKay, Paddy Dow and Sam Walsh among a host of others, the nucleus for the Navy Blue is there for all to see.

“Those guys are extremely talented young kids, but they’re also very hard-working men,” he said.

“To be able to grow up in my first few years means I’ve made very special connections with those guys.

“I’m very excited to play with those guys for the oncoming years.”

Arguably, the one player that Fisher has struck up the most special of connections with is Carlton’s joint captain.

With Patrick Cripps a likely inclusion for his 50th game, Zac can’t wait to run out alongside the other half of ‘Fish and Cripps’.

“It’s good to have the big fella back,” he said.

“He’s excited and raring to go, so to have another big-bodied presence in there - especially against Sydney’s big-bodied mids - will go a long way.”
