The Carlton Football Club has made an additional list change following the conclusion of the 2021 AFLW season.
Defender Jess Edwards has been informed she will not be offered a new contract. She joins Katie Loynes and Alison Downie, who both announced their departures following the final game of the home-and-away season.
Edwards played 14 games across three seasons for the Game Changers since arriving at the Club as a fourth-round selection in the 2018 AFLW Draft.
Her time in Navy Blue was epitomised by a team-first mentality, constantly performing lock-down roles in defence and through the middle of the ground.
This was symbolised in 2020 when Edwards earned the Blueblood award for living the trademarks of the playing group.
Interim GM of Women’s Football Brett Munro thanked Edwards for her contribution to the Club.
“Jess is a fantastic teammate and Carlton person who has been a great contributor to building the strong culture we have at the football club right now,” Munro said.
“She gave her all every time she put on that Navy Blue guernsey, which her teammates, coaches and no doubt our members and supporters are grateful for. We wish her all the best for the future.”
The Club will farewell all three of its departing players at its 2021 AFLW Best and Fairest, to be held on Friday 23 April.
