Nicholls, Kernahan, McKay, Hands, Johnston, Hunter, Fevola, Walls, Keogh, Buckley, Hanna… the Carlton roll call seemed endless as the club’s luminaries recently mingled with an elite core of supporters, the Platinum Blue Believers, at a function at Sketch at the Docklands.

The occasion marked the moment where the names of members of the elite support group were included on the lockers with those of Carlton’s 100-game players in the soon-to-be-completed facility at Visy Park, as part of the fundraising program for the Visy Park redevelopment.

The Platinum Blue Believers have each made substantial donations for the honour of having their names etched into the lockers with those of the men who have each bled Blue in 100 senior matches.

For the record, the following players – some of them acknowledged as the greatest in Carlton and indeed League history - were on hand at the function, to represent the guernsey numbers they wore with such distinction;

Ken Hands (no.1) , John Nicholls (2), Kevin Hall (3), Stephen Kernahan (4), Andrew McKay (5), Garry Crane (6), Wayne Johnston (7), Trevor Keogh (8), Ken Hunter (9), Adrian Gallagher (10), John Goold (11), Adrian Gleeson (12), Milham Hanna (13), Michael Sexton (14), Jim Buckley (16), Barry Gill (21), Brendan Fevola (25), David Rhys-Jones (26), Fraser Murphy (30), Tom Alvin (31), Bryan Quirk (32), Mark Maclure (36), Robert Walls (42) and David McKay (43).

Each player shared a table with the Platinum Blue Believer whose name will share locker space.

For those fortunate to be in attendance, this was a real walk down memory lane, sprinkled with a touch of today thanks to Brendan Fevola’s appearance. To top it off, a birthday cake was presented to John Nicholls, who turned 70.

While the Platinum Blue Believers are part of the Blue Believer program raising funds for the sensational new training facility under construction at Visy Park, all Carlton supporters can be involved for as little as $25. While $25 may not get your name etched into a locker, it will ensure your name is featured on the ‘donation wall’ in the redevelopment.

To that end, each and every Carlton supporter is encouraged to assist the club finance the redevelopment and be recognised as a Blue Believer.
