Chris Judd, in conjunction with Carlton’s joint major sponsor and official car partner Hyundai, has today launched an exciting charitable auction that gives fans the opportunity to Bid 4 Juddy’s Car. All proceeds will go to the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation.
The auction kicks off on eBay Australia at 8:15pm tonight, and finishes at quarter-time during Carlton’s clash with Essendon on Saturday 24 August. The final moments of the auction will be streamed live on the Big Screen at the MCG.
Bidding for this one-of-a-kind Hyundai will start at $5,555, with Judd and Hyundai hoping to raise $30,000, to support the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation.
The Foundation was formed 13 years ago by Sue Walter, after her son Steven died of cancer.
“The Foundation started through a request from Steve before he died,” Sue Walter said. “He was diagnosed with cancer when he was 11 and had an eight year battle.”
“He left a list of things that he wanted me to do, and one of them was to raise money for research for childhood cancer, so that one day no other child would have to go through what he’d been through.”
Chris Judd said the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation is a cause close to the hearts of both Carlton and Hyundai.
“It’s a great cause, one that myself, Carlton and Hyundai are really proud to be getting behind,” Judd said. “I’ve looked after the car and driven it with a lot of care, so hopefully we can get somewhere close to $30,000.”
The winning bidder will receive:
- Chris Judd's personal Hyundai i40 Sedan Premium
- An engraved signature plate on the vehicle's dash
- A game worn and signed Carlton guernsey that Judd wore during season 2013
- Free scheduled vehicle servicing for two years
- $2,000 gift certificate to spend on Hyundai Genuine Accessories
