The Club received the following letter of thanks after members of the playing group visited the Donald Football Club on Tuesday morning to take part in a footy clinic:
To the Carlton Football Club,
A HUGE thank you for flying the seven Carlton Football Club players up to Donald for this morning’s football clinics.
Shane Powell, Donald Football Club President & myself collected the boys from the airport and returned them to the plane after the clinics had finished.
I would particularly like to thank the boys for being very patient with my young daughter Katie, aged 13 who has Down Syndrome. Both Katie and myself are long time Carlton supporters and she nearly exploded with pride when the boys let her have a photo taken with them.
I thank them for allowing her to have this done because to her footy is just what we watch on the TV. This made it all so much more real for her and for that I am very grateful.
Images like this one are the positive ones our community needs to see of the AFL world, where the players run clinics and spend time with kids like Katie, rather than the negative press the public gets…….
Once again, a heartfelt “thank you” to both the Carlton Football Club and Dylan Buckley, Troy Menzel, Zach Tuohy, Ed Curnow, Mitch Robinson, Jeremy Laidler and Matthew Kreuzer.
Regards,
Patrick O’Reilly
