THE CARLTON Football Club has tonight announced the Hon Josh Frydenberg MP as its joint No.1 ticket holder.
The announcement was made by Carlton President Mark LoGiudice at half-time of Thursday night’s blockbuster against Collingwood.
LoGiudice also confirmed Vivienne Kerr would continue with her position as No.1 ticket holder, with both individuals holding a passion for the Blues spanning many decades.
The Treasurer of Australia joins a list of well-known politicians to hold the No.1 ticket, such as Sir Robert Menzies and Malcolm Fraser.
His undying love for Carlton dates back to his first ever Navy Blue memory – the Club’s famous 1979 Grand Final victory over the Magpies.
Navy Blue at heart from the moment he was born, Minister Frydenberg spoke about the significance of such an association with his childhood club.
“Carlton is a very proud club with a great history. It’s an honour to be associated with the Blues having grown up going to Princes Park with my dad to watch Carlton legends like Bruce Doull, Peter Bosustow and Mike Fitzpatrick.
“It’s terrific to see the Club go from strength to strength with our men’s and women’s teams and while I was never near good enough to take the field this honour is the next best thing,” Frydenberg said.
Carlton President Mark LoGiudice said he was pleased to formalise Minister Frydenberg’s support of the Blues.
“Minister Frydenberg has been a long-standing supporter of our football club over a long period of time,” LoGiudice said.
“To have him join our No.1 ticket alongside Vivienne Kerr is a great sign of the public support which Carlton has and we look forward to welcoming Minister Frydenberg to hopefully as many games as possible during what is set to be an exciting season ahead.
“We are also delighted that Vivienne continues with this honour, her support of the Club has been tremendous over a long period of time and we could not be happier that she has had her No.1 ticket renewed.”
