MARC Murphy will achieve another Carlton milestone tonight.
When Murphy runs out onto the MCG against Collingwood, it will be his 287th game in Navy Blue.
In doing so, he equals Justin ‘Harry’ Madden in sixth place on Carlton’s all-time player list. He will be behind Craig Bradley, Bruce Doull, Kade Simpson, John Nicholls and Stephen Silvagni come the conclusion of the night.
It’s been a career ladened with Navy Blue achievements for Murphy, who captained the Club for six seasons while also winning two John Nicholls Medals (2011, 2017).
He started his career by winning the AFLPA Best First Year Player Award, while his career-best season also netted him an All-Australian berth while being crowned the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.
Murphy was awarded Life Membership of Carlton in 2013, before receiving his AFL Life Membership earlier this year.
Madden played 287 games for the Blues from 1983 to 1996, after arriving on Royal Parade following three seasons with Essendon.
Madden is a dual premiership player of Carlton (1987, 1995) while also winning two best-and-fairest awards at the Blues (1985, 1991). The ruckman also finished as runner-up in the 1985 Brownlow Medal by a solitary vote.
