TORRENTIAL rain couldn’t dampen the VFLW Blues’ first win of the season.
Despite difficult conditions over the weekend for Carlton’s Round 3 clash with the Darebin Falcons, the girls bravely scrapped in the wet to secure a seven-point win at IKON Park.
Speaking to Carlton Media post-match, midfielder Teresa “Razor” Zampaglione reflected that whilst the game wasn’t pretty to watch, the team managed the end result they’d been chasing.
The victory was also more reflective of the high standards the team had set during traininh and a reward for all the extra work they had been putting in.
“The first quarter we were a bit more composed because it wasn’t that wet, but it (the weather) got progressively worse,” Zampaglione said.
“I’m keen for this to be the stepping stone for a lot more (wins) because when we play our game, we are dangerous.”
With premiership points now assured to the Blues, Zampaglione was confident the team would carry their self-belief and practise into their upcoming matches.
The upcoming chance against North Melbourne another great opportunity to take a big step forward and get their season back on track.
“I feel like this is just the start,” she said.
“As time goes on and we play more and more together we will convert those goals and we will win.”
