Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer will miss the team's pre-season training camp in Arizona.
Kreuzer is still recovering from the foot injury that prevented him from lining up in the Semi Final against Sydney.
The Blues remain confident the 24-year-old will be able to resume full training by early January.
But Carlton's GM-Football Operations Andrew McKay has told the Herald Sun the Club is taking a cautious approach.
"We won't rush him, we will ease him slowly into things," McKay said. "He is not going to Arizona with us.
"By the time we get back after Christmas, he will be ready to head into full training.
"We just want to make sure we get it right for him."
Kreuzer is still sporting a moon-boot, but is hopeful of having it removed early next week.
A squad of approximately 35 Carlton players will depart for Arizona on December 3.
