AFL Victoria has announced that the 2021 rebel VFLW competition and the NAB League Girls will run concurrently with the AFLW season.
This means that aspiring AFLW players will have more exposure and opportunities to play the game while still being able to maintain their community roots.
It also gives AFLW lists the chance to give their players game time if they are not selected for the game squad, similar to the AFL men’s system.
Carlton will once again be fielding an VFLW side, alongside Casey Demons, Collingwood, Darebin Falcons, Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, Southern Saints, Western Bulldogs and Williamstown.
