Famous faces
When you think of Carlton players in the No.37 guernsey, one man springs to mind straight away.
Always remembered for that one piece of play which broke Collingwood hearts in 1979, Harmes’ highlights reel across his 168-game career is one of the very best.
The inaugural winner of the Norm Smith Medal, Harmes went onto win three premierships and represent Victoria, before being inducted into the Carlton Hall of Fame in 2000.
Whether it was hitting the scoreboard, in the middle of the ground or in defence, Harmes could do it all: he could even chase down his own kick to send the Blues to premiership glory.
Harmes transitioned from No.54 guernsey in 1978, taking over from a future Hall of Famer who played a solitary game in the No.37: Ken Sheldon.

New custodian
A new player who needs no introduction to the history of the Carlton Football Club, Ben Silvagni was awarded the No.37 jumper after arriving at Ikon Park via the 2018 NAB AFL Draft.
Taken with pick No.70 as a father-son selection, Silvagni showed in his underage football that he’s capable of playing at either end of the ground.
Initially starting out as a forward, Silvagni displayed his potential with 23 disposals, 10 marks and two goals against the Northern Knights.

Transitioning to the back half as 2018 progressed, Silvagni found himself at home, using his versatility and mobility to his advantage. From the outset at his first press conference, the 18-year-old mentioned his desire to ‘make a name for himself’ in navy blue.
