The Blues could welcome back a number of youngsters for their trip west to face West Coast at Domain Stadium on Saturday night.
Head of Football Andrew McKay revealed Tom Williamson, Harry McKay and David Cuningham were all in line to make their returns to the field this weekend after overcoming their respective injuries.
“Tommy unfortunately missed last week’s game due to illness, he’s now recovered from that and he will be available for selection later in the week,” McKay said.
“Harry McKay missed last week’s game against Essendon, which was really unfortunate for both him and us. He’ll be a test at the end of the week. It has improved over the past five or six days so hopefully he’ll get up for the game on the weekend.
“Meanwhile, David Cuningham hurt his ankle two weeks ago, and while he was unable to get up for last week’s game, it’s looking likely that he will play at some level this weekend.”
Adding to the Club’s growing injury list, defensive duo Simon White and Alex Silvagni have been ruled out for the remainder of the season with knee injuries.
“As we know, Simon unfortunately tweaked his knee in the game against Geelong and scans have revealed some damage to the medial ligament. He will unfortunately miss the rest of the season but he will be fit in time for the pre-season,” McKay said.
“Alex is progressing slower than perhaps what we first expected. He’s got some bone bruising still. He’s still another three weeks or so away, so in other words he will be out for the rest of the season which is really unfortunate for him, and certainly our backline as well."
At a VFL level, Jesse Glass-McCasker and Daniel Gorringe are also recovering from their respective concussion and quad concerns ahead of the Northern Blues’ clash against Casey.
“Jesse Glass-McCasker suffered mild concussion in the game against Footscray on the weekend at the VFL level. He’s pulled up pretty well, but he still needs to go through the relevant concussion tests during the week before he’s going to be available at the end of the week.
“Daniel Gorringe missed last week’s Northern Blues game with a quad injury. He’ll miss this week’s game too, but will be a test the following week.”
