THE Carlton Football Club can confirm defender Lachie Plowman has re-signed for the next three years.
This long-term commitment is the latest step in the emergence of a player who is now only just starting to be given the public plaudits he has long received inside the four walls of the football club.
Plowman has solidified his place in the Blues’ 22 in recent seasons through a team-first role that often requires him to take the opposition’s most dangerous forward on a weekly basis.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough 2019 season, which saw him finish third in the best and fairest count.
He carried that form into this season, and was a significant part of an established Carlton back six.
Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said the Club was delighted to sign Plowman on a long-term deal.
“Lachie often gets the toughest job down back week in and week out. His ability to play a selfless role for the team on game day has made him a valuable member of this football club,” Austin said.
“Into his eighth AFL season now, Lachie is really starting to emerge into a mature player and is part of that age group we are really excited to see continue to grow together over the coming years.
“To have Lachie commit to the Blues for at least the next three seasons is a terrific show of loyalty from him and we look forward to seeing him continue to play some great football in Navy Blue during that time.”
