FOR the second consecutive year, Carlton has had multiple players named in the 22under22 side.
Unsurprisingly, young stars Sam Walsh and Jacob Weitering have been selected in the final team, making back-to-back appearances in the 22under22 team.
Becoming the first Blue to feature in the side on three occasions, Weitering has also been named vice-captain after obtaining the most votes of any player in the competition.
Featuring in a massive 92 per cent of fan teams, Weitering has enjoyed his best season to date this year in Carlton’s backline, getting his job done against the likes of Jeremy Cameron, Eric Hipwood and Tom Lynch.
Ranking above average for intercept possessions and spoils, Weitering was at his best in the one-on-one contest, rating as one of the standout players in the league.
His fellow No.1 draft pick and member of the leadership group in Walsh wasn’t far behind.
Featuring in 74 per cent of teams, Walsh has officially made it two from two after being named in the team during his debut season.
It caps off another great year for the youngster, who entered 2020 with a NAB AFL Rising Star and AFLPA Best First Year Player award in tow.
Spending more time on the wing in 2020, Walsh impressed with his work rate between the arcs and hit the scoreboard this season, kicking eight goals from eight goals from his final 10 games.
