IT’S the goal that needs little introduction.
Jack Newnes’ clutch, game-winning goal against Fremantle has been nominated for the Round 12 Coates Hire Goal of the Year.
Newnes’ spectacular effort delivered Carlton an unforgettable victory against Fremantle in the wet – providing the Blues with their first win after the siren since Stephen Kernahan’s goal in 1987.
The after-the-siren winner has since been dubbed ‘the best since Blight’: and there’s no denying it’s worthy winner as goal of the week.
