As Carlton prepares to take to the MCG to face Richmond tonight, the thoughts of our players, staff and officials are with the families of those killed in the Swanston Street wall collapse that took place last year.
Tomorrow, Friday 28 March, marks one year since strong winds toppled a brick wall in Swanston Street, killing siblings Bridget and Alexander Jones, and Dr Marie-Faith Fiawoo.
19-year-old Alexander and his 18-year-old sister Bridget were young Carlton supporters who had been on their way to the game.
Carlton President Stephen Kernahan says the tragic events that unfolded touched everyone at the club.
"It's just a terrible, terrible tragedy that something like this could happen to two young football fans on their way to a game," Kernahan said.
"Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Bridget and Alexander's parents Ian and Sue, I can't imagine how difficult this past year must have been for their family.
"On behalf of everyone at Carlton, let me say that Bridget and Alexander are in our thoughts, especially this week, as we reflect on two young lives taken far too soon."
