Carlton will blood five youngsters in its opening NAB Cup encounter with Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Blues have named a 28-man squad to make the flight, with the AFL’s No.1 national draftee of 2008, Matthew Kreuzer, included. Also named is West Australians Dennis Armfield and David Ellard, former Adelaide-listed on-baller Darren Pfeiffer and 2005 national draftee, Jake Edwards.
Nick Stevens and Cameron Cloke are also set to resume, with Stevens overcoming what was a potentially career-threatening neck injury, and Cloke from shoulder surgery.
Stevens will lead the Blues out as captain.
