CARLTON’S true sign of progression will face another litmus test this Friday when it takes on Hawthorn at Optus Stadium.
In another instalment of 2020 taking a twist, the Blues will be looking to register their fifth win of the season against a fired-up Hawks outfit.
Carlton will need to overturn recent history against Hawthorn, having won just one out of 16 games against Friday’s opposition.
The Hawks will have the advantage from an experience point of view: on average, they have fielded 600 more games in their team this year compared to the Blues.
Where the Blues will be looking to capitalise is their ability to convert turnovers into scores, ranking No.1 in the AFL so far this year.
After a difficult 2018, Jacob Weitering has undeniably gone from strength-to-strength on the way to a brilliant 2020 so far.

He believes his key defensive partner is a big reason for that. ?#OwnTheFuture
Two of the brightest young midfielders in the competition will feature at Optus Stadium, and they know each other well.
While 2019 ended in awards for the 2019 NAB AFL Rising Star Sam Walsh and the Peter Crimmins Medallist James Worpel, their journeys to the AFL are quite similar.
Worpel was the Geelong Falcons’ co-captain in the premiership year of 2017, a team which Walsh starred in as a 17-year-old on the way to co-captaincy of his own the following season.
When it comes to a point of difference on Friday, that could very well be the smooth-moving Sam Petrevski-Seton: and he could be exactly that for your AFL Fantasy side.
Coming off his highest score of the season last weekend, the Halls Creek Cowboy produced a score of 91 the last time these two sides met in Round 6 last year.
