Although he has only been at Carlton a short time, Jeremy Laidler is already a winner following the 2010 Carlton Football Club Corporate Golf Day. Jeremy was a member of the winning team at this annual event sponsored by Ikon Services.
“I can’t take much credit as it was the other three guys in the team that gave us the victory,” Laidler modestly said while enjoying dinner after the event at Sanctuary Lakes.
George Tahan from Ikon Services, a commercial cleaning company who have enjoyed a close association with Carlton for a number of years, was delighted with the day.
“This has been a great day for Ikon Services and it is great to see so everyone really enjoy themselves. Not only guests from Ikon and our clients but other organisations associated with the Carlton Football Club, such as Mars, Hyundai and Visy, together with coaches and players. It was fantastic and the fact the rain held off for most of the day was a real bonus.”
Brett Ratten was joined by a number of assistant coaches and more than 12 players for the Ambrose event with former players Mark Maclure and Syd Jackson also involved in the day. Maclure won nearest the pin on the front nine, his drive finishing less than 1.5 metres from a hole in one.
Michael Jamison was another winner on the day, just outdriving Paul Bower to win the longest drive on the 10th hole. Ryan Houlihan showed his golfing skills with a drive that won nearest the pin on the second nine, finishing two metres from the hole.
After a tough three-hour training session at Visy Park in the morning, the players and coaches enjoyed the relaxing afternoon of golf and the chance to compete against each other. Each group of four having one player or coach together with three corporate guests for the Ambrose event with the winning team finishing 15 under par.
