Recruits brace for Blues intra-club
Get your first glimpse of the team’s 2010 draftees and second-year players
Members of Carlton’s senior list will participate in 4x15-minute quarters at the venue, with the likes of Matthew Watson and Nick Duigan amongst the national draftees on show, together with pre-draft trade Jeremy Laidler, second-year players Chris Yarran, Kane Lucas and Levi Casboult, and the Irish rookie Zach Tuohy.
“This match opens the door to all the talent that we’ve got. This year more than ever the depth of our list and our team looks a lot stronger,” Carlton Senior Coach Brett Ratten said.
“From my point of view I want to have a look at the blokes who have impressed along the way or just come into the program, to see how they perform.”
Ratten said that up to eight Bullants players will be used to cover the slight shortfall of Carlton senior players, most of whom are on the cusp of playing, but will not be risked.
As he said: “Some of the [Carlton] boys are really close to playing games, but we don’t need to risk them at this time of year”.
Ratten added that the intra-club fixture would also allow the coaching staff to experiment with interchange and rotations.
Saturday morning’s intra-club practice match commences at Visy Park at 9.30am, with The Carlton Shop open for business from 9am.
