Harris appointed Bullants coach

The Carlton Football Club, in conjunction with the Northern Bullants Football Club, is pleased to announce that Darren Harris will coach the Blues’ VFL affiliate in 2011.
Harris, who will also continue in his current position as Development & Academy Manager replaces David Teague as the Northern Bullants senior coach.
“We are delighted that Darren has taken up the opportunity to coach the Northern Bullants,” said Steven Icke, Carlton’s General Manager Football Operations.
“Darren has worked extensively with the Northern Bullants over the past couple of seasons and we believe his extension into this role will benefit both the Carlton and Northern Bullants Football Clubs.”
Prior to his arrival at Carlton, Harris spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the West Coast Eagles. He coached West Perth from 2002-2005 and guiding it to the 2003 WAFL flag.
Harris was a premiership player with West Perth in 1995, coached the Wodonga Raiders from 1997-1999 and was an assistant coach with the NSW/ACT Rams in 2000 & 2001.
Northern Bullants President, Stephen Papal is also pleased with Harris’ appointment.
“We are thrilled that Darren will join the Northern Bullants. He is an experienced coach and is someone who is well aware of systems that operate in the club, having worked closely with us over the past two seasons.”

The Carlton Football Club also confirmed today that Luke Webster has been appointed as a Development Coach.
Webster played 33 games for Fremantle between 2003 and 2007 before his playing career was cut short following a fourth knee reconstruction.
“We are also delighted that Luke joins us at Carlton. He is an impressive young man and will work closely with both Darren Harris and our senior coaching staff at Carlton.” Steven Icke said.
