Bret Thornton, who was taken to hospital in Perth on Saturday night, has recovered well and returned to Melbourne with the team on Sunday.

Thornton was injured late in the second quarter of the game and was taken to hospital by ambulance during the third quarter. He was in hospital for a few hours for observation and tests to ensure there was no damage to his neck. There was concern from television viewers who saw Thornton being stretchered to the ambulance as the medical team stabilised his head as a precaution.

While he suffered mild concussion from the incident, thankfully he was cleared of any damage to his neck and was back at the team hotel on Saturday night resting and returned to Melbourne Sunday afternoon.
