The ‘AFL Multicultural Academy Camp’ is an event being held by the AFL, AFL Victoria in conjunction with Multicultural Program partner clubs- Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn, Richmond & Western Bulldogs.

The Carlton Football Club has collaborated with the AFL and partner clubs to identify talented multicultural football players in Melbourne. With the game of Australian football, “a game for all” we hope to see more players like O'hAilpin, Mil Hanna and Jesaulenko in the AFL. It is a very exciting time for the AFL with the game attracting people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

The purpose of the camp is to provide 50 young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD), within metropolitan and rural Victorian communities, the opportunity to engage in a unique football and life educational experience.

The AFL Multicultural Academy Camp will be held in Melbourne, from Sunday 20 – Thursday 24 September (AFL Grand Final Week), and will be a 5 day ‘Live –in’ Camp for all participants.

The camp will include leadership and skill development sessions, expert training sessions with Jason McCartney (AFL AIS Coach), kicking lessons conducted by Peter Daicos, high performance testing and talent identification activities.

Trials recently took place at Whitten Oval and Noble Park to identify talented multicultural players in Melbourne, 50 participants have now been selected and will take part in the first ever AFL Multicultural Camp.
