Five Carlton players are a little lighter in their pockets after receiving sanctions from the AFL following the Match Review Panel findings after the match against St Kilda on Monday night.

Leading the ‘donations’ to the AFL is captain Chris Judd who was charged with not just engaging in a melee but being charged as the instigator of the melee during the quarter time break on Monday night.

The four other Carlton players, all sanctioned as a result of the quarter time melee were; Aaron Joseph, Heath Scotland, Mitch Robinson and Marc Murphy.

Three St Kilda players; Jason Gram, David Armitage and Sam Gilbert also received sanctions as a result of their involvement in the melee. In addition the Saints Leigh Montagna received a one match suspension for misconduct in that he made unreasonable or unnecessary contact with Carlton’s injured Ed Curnow as Curnow was making his way off the ground during the first quarter.

The charges and sanctions handed out to the five Carlton players, with all accepting an early plea, as delivered by the AFL on Tuesday were:
