The famous number 43 will once again be on show when Carlton plays Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday. Simon White the 21 year-old rookie recruited from Subiaco in the December Rookie Draft will wear number 43 on his back as he makes his AFL debut for the Blues against the Crows.

The number 43 Carlton guernsey was last worn in round 17, 2007 when Anthony Koutoufides played the last of 278 matches for the Blues. The dual Best & Fairest winner and 1995 premiership player was one of the elite players of the AFL during his career and was awarded the AFLPA Most Valuable Player in 2000.

He announced his retirement, due to a degenerative hip injury, the week after the round 17 match in 2007 and completed a lap of honour in recognition of his outstanding career the following weekend prior to Carlton’s round 18 match against Collingwood at the MCG.

It is appropriate that White make his debut in the number 43 guernsey in a match against Adelaide as Koutoufides made his debut in the guernsey in round 13, 1992 - against Adelaide at Princes Park.

Anthony Koutoufides (278 games between 1992 and 2007) and David McKay (263 games between 1969 and 1981) are the only players with their names on locker number 43 at Visy Park. Other players to wear the number for Carlton are:
•    Graeme Anderson - 2 games (1961)
•    Mick Kennedy - 58 games (1984 - 1989)
•    Chris Bond - 4 games (1990)
