The Northern Bullants went down to North Ballarat by three goals in a rematch of the 2009 VFL Grand Final on Saturday. The Bullants were slow to get going in the windy conditions at Eureka Stadium in Ballarat and trailed the home team by 22 points at the first change. Inaccurate kicking by North Ballarat kept the margin to less than four goals in a quarter the home team had many opportunities, kicking five goals six behinds to the Bullants two goals two behinds.

In the second term the Bullants restricted North Ballarat to one goal, one behind while adding three goals four behinds to go into the main break seven points behind. A tight third quarter, with both teams kicking two goals saw the Roosters with a one-goal lead at the final break.

Unfortunately for the Bullants the Roosters were able to kick five goals to three in the final quarter to win the match by 18-points - North Ballarat 13-10-88 d Northern Bullants 10-10-70.
